The 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix has broken attendance records, demonstrating the growing impact of Formula 1 in the country. In this edition, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez managed to gather a total of 404,958 people over the three days of activities, surpassing the 2023 mark of 400,639 spectators. For race day, 154,142 fans gathered, compared to 149,721 the previous year.
The economic impact from the presence of this large number of fans is estimated to be around 15 billion pesos, representing a significant boost for the capital of the country. The Mexico City Grand Prix not only consolidates itself as a promoter of Mexican culture but also as a driver for the local economy and job creation.
One of the key factors in the growth experienced by Formula 1 in Mexico in recent years is the presence of Sergio "Checo" Pérez. Since his arrival at Red Bull in 2021, the Mexican driver has significantly improved his performance on the track, achieving two third-place finishes at the Circuito de la Magdalena Mixihuca in 2021 and 2022. However, this season he has faced a crisis in results that makes it difficult for him to reach his third podium.
